This was done WAAAAAAY back in January when Paint class first started. I had NEVER done anything with oil and canvas paint before...just acrylic. Anyway, We were told to just do whatever, with black and white paint. I wanted to do some random abstract thing with wavy lines going everywhere. However, My blacks and whites kept mixing and i ended up with mostly grey paint. I was very disgruntled, my supposedly "deep" painting was going NOWHERE! In my rage, I "ruined" the painting with a little Alien Man... but then my two friends said that the painting looked like it was under the sea...and they dubbed my Alien the Seaweed Man. So thats the end of the story.
My first experiences with oil on canvas were never fantastic either. The paint is so slow-drying, that the paint just meshes into each other when you try to paint over it, and then you get muddy colours. I think this piece turned out better than you think. It looks so eery with the Seaweed Man's glowing eyes. I definitely feel trapped under this grayscale underwater world, and almost unsafe, with the glare of the Seaweed Man. Well done!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
