Some fanart for an old cartoon short called "The Cookie Carnival"
. Check it out [link]
there at the link if you are interested. I really liked it. So much so that I actually memorized all the songs!
For those who don't feel like watching it, here is the gist.SPOILERS!
the gist of the cartoon is a bunch of anthromorphic sweets live in a town made out of sweets and they are having a beauty contest to find the Cookie Queen. A hobo gingerbread man sees a girl cookie crying because she's ugly so he fixes her up to be pretty and she ends up winning the contest. She then has to choose a Cookie King. After watching various sweets perform a song and dance to win her over, she ends up not liking any of them and gets with the hobo who made her pretty. He then becomes the Cookie King and merriment ensues.
Anyways, the cartoon randomly popped into my head a few days ago so of course I had to Youtube it. After doing so, I wondered what the Cookie King would have looked like had he too become humanized. Thus, this was born. I changed the look of the Cookie Queen a little bit too.
Thought about making a background because I really should practice but I couldn't think of anything good without taking away from the actual couple. So I slapped them on a picture of candy hearts. It looks like it could be an actual place in their sweets universe anyway. Also Valentines Day is on Monday so it's fitting.
Does anyone actually like those candy hearts? They taste like crap but in elementary school, everyone used to pass them out. It's like the Valentines equivalent of the Christmas Fruitcake: No one likes it, but everyone gives it.
This is my 3rd attempt at cell shading. Does it look okay? I always have to keep drawing, erasing, and redrawing and erasing the shadows because I have a hard time getting it just right. I feel like there should be more shadows on the King's face but I couldn't figure out where to put them.
